I typically don’t write reviews, but this repellent saved my life on my last vacation. Keep in mind that mosquitos ADORE my blood; I’m one of the lucky individuals that mosquitos love to target out of a group of people bc apparently my blood is the equivalent of champagne. To make matters worse, I’m incredibly allergic to bites (they get huge and unbearably itchy) so the need for a good repellent was a must have.

Let me set the stage: I was headed back to my homeland, which is a Southeast Asian archipelago in the middle of rainy season (as in, typhoons are common). LOTs of opportunities for mosquitos to gather in still water in between downpours. But I was pretty diligent about using this spray all over my exposed skin and clothes any time I left my hotel room and during the 3 weeks I was there, I counted ZERO bites.

I also recommend this and the No Bite Me afterbite cream, just in case. But I’ve never been able to feel so confident being outdoors and I owe a lot of that to having these in my backpack wherever I went.

I bought this after receiving 19 mosquito bites one morning while taking my dog through a park. I expected mosquitos to be a big problem because we’ve had a lot of precipitation where I live. My dog was even getting bitten!

I wanted to test it out for a while before I commented on its efficacy, but I feel I can now confidently say it works.
I take my dog for a walk every night & spray it on myself before we go. I’ve been using it for a little over a month ago– so peak mosquito season. I wasn’t bitten one sing time since using the spray. I WAS bitten, however, a couple nights ago when I went out without it. I had approx. a dozen bites to be specific.

So while getting bitten is was a bummer, it did finally serve as a control to test out whether or not this has been working for me.

I’ve used up almost all of the first bottle. The smell is very strong. I’m used to it now, but I didn’t expect it to be so strong when I first got it. & while the smell is really strong when you first put it on, after a little while that goes away & it actually kind of smells good 😂

    Definitely recommend!

I rarely leave reviews, unfortunately, since I depend on them… But this product has worked really well for me. I will make sure I always have it around in the summer!

Ok, I basically never leave reviews, because I just don’t have the time. But knowing how much I rely on others’ reviews to help me find things that work, I feel it my duty to share.

I bought this a month ago for my 3- and 4-year-old kids, especially. We live in DC (which is a swampy, humid, mosquito-breeding steamroom in the summer), and the mosquitoes are just awful and relentless. My kids love to play outside, both at their daycare and at home, but they’ve just been getting eaten alive, and my daughter gets really bad reaction and swelling when she gets bitten. It’s been so bad that, prior to using Murphy’s Repellant, they’d only stay in the yard a couple minutes before coming inside, covered in painful mosquito bites. I’d been using a different repellant (Sallye Ander No-Bite-Me Bug Repellent Cream – 2 oz, Natural, Safe for Kids & Infants, Anti-Itch, Moisturizing, Lemongrass & Mint Scent), which smelled pretty good but was sadly not very effective. Back to the drawing board, I did more research and found Murphy’s. The reviews seemed promising, but honestly, I’ve tried so many non-DEET repellants over the years and none of them have worked very well and are always a disappointment. So I didn’t have high hopes for this one.

Well, my kids’ skin doesn’t lie! This stuff has worked shockingly well! We apply it in the morning around 8 am before heading to their daycare (they spend a lot of time outdoors there at the on-site playgrounds). It is effective up through pick up, which is around 4:30/5pm. Then if they want to play outside when we get home, we do have to reapply one time, but that will last them the rest of the evening. It’s like…night and day. When my daughter has it on, she plays happily outside. When she doesn’t, if she plays outside anyway, she comes in crying in 5 minutes from 5-10 painful mosquito bites. My son doesn’t get so upset by bites, but I can see them on his skin when he gets them, and since we started using this, he very rarely has bites on him.

    Here’s a quick pro/con list.

    PRO:
    -WORKS (at least for us)
-Effective even in humid, mosquito-swarming environments
-Easy to apply, and after several minutes, it soaks in completely and leaves no greasy or unpleasant residue

    CONS:
-the smell is rather strong when applying and for about 10 minutes after application (but it does dissipate)
-it’s a bit pricey (but worth it, since it works!)

I hope this review is helpful to other folks looking for EFFECTIVE, non-DEET, non-greasy mosquito repellant!

I don’t know what happened but all the sudden I seems to attract more mosquitoes. When I sit outside with family I was the only one that got bit by mosquitoes. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if those bites not made me crazy itch. It started with small bite then get bigger as mins pass. The itch last about 48 hours. I tried “everything” and nothing worked. I ordered this repellent from Amazon. First time I put it on right after I got bitten already. It worked magically. That bite wasn’t itchy at all. Since then I spray it before I go sit outside and so far so good.

Used this during a chill hike in Hawaii but still ended up getting a bunch of mosquito bites. My friend and I who reapplied once or twice suffered the most bites while my bf and other friend had virtually none (they reapplied multiple times). I guess if you spray every 15min it works, but the smell is strong and a bit unpleasant and it feels gross and oily on the skin. Also the bottle we got recently is really leaky and the spray is kinda difficult to press down on.

The one thing I actually really like this for is keeping ants away. The area I live in has an ant problem, and this is the only thing that repels them (ant bait has no effect). I just spray it on my coasters/desk and I don’t have to worry about my drink being infested within five minutes.
