I promise there’s no genie hiding in there, but this is exactly what i wished for!
Beyond pleased with this incomparable purchase. I got a used one for an unbeatable price in perfect condition. The large size, shape, position of the feet, hinged top and graceful camel neck spout are all qualities existing together in one pot that I spent over a year looking for. This is quite honestly my dream tea pot. It’s as close to the Tuareg style tea pot I originally sought out to find a long while ago.
Specs:
The metal seems solid, no welding clumps, very shiny, no scratches. The height and width are perfect, not too slim not too stout.
The spout arrived with a strange white crust in it that I cleaned out easily with a soapy straw cleaner. I then (twice) cleaned the inside of the pot with boiled water, vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide just in case the white crust was mold or harmful calcium buildup. If the crust hadn’t come out so easily I would have put this thing down as 2 out of 5 stars.
The base of the spout where it meets the inner pot has straining holes so in the future I plan to clean through the holes with swabs.
I got this as a birthday gift to myself so it is very very special. I refuse to let any odd thing come in the way of my joy.
BE CAREFUL
For now I’m being careful with it so I have not put it on the stove. Instead I put hot water in it from a kettle. The handle gets untouchably hot after the tea has been steeping, so use an oven mitt or cloth to hold the handle when pouring.
My arm is not strong so I have to practice pouring the tea from a height (to give it the cooling effect and desired froth). If you are female and have skinny arms don’t do this by yourself unless you’ve had enough practice and know your limits 😅 I am yet to try pouring it from high up, but when I do, I’ll come back and update this review.
Overall this is my favorite kitchen item right now and I highly recommend owning one of these to any tea lover, culture enthusiast or lover of all things hospitable, exotic or cozy! This is sure to impress guests and inspire you to try interesting teas from Africa’s Sahel and Sahara zones and around the world.
🎲UPDATE: DON’T DO THIS!!!🎲
I put it on the stove to reheat some turmeric ginger tea. I put it on the lowest setting on the smallest burner. Still the bottom of the inside of the tea pot browned and lost its shiny patina. Do not, I repeat do not, put this on the stove if there is tea in it already! Especially if slightly sweetened, do not warm tea over the stove in this if you don’t want the inside to brown/corrode! I just have to accept the pot’s new feature now 😞 not visible from the outside, only the inside. The outside of the pot is still perfect. Perhaps the inside plating is different?
Also, I’ve gotten better at pouring the tea from high up! It’s not so difficult when you get the hang of it.

Looks nothing like the picture, essentially a used item. The silver plating is all cracking off, appears oxidized as though there has been water in it? Also there are no feet on the pot I purchased…

This is a beautiful piece! It’s actually identical to a teapot that we bought in Morocco a year ago – but unfortunately got broken in a move. Beautifully authentic!
