I really was hoping to love this more than Ana Abiyedh Rouge based on the presentation in the photo. That bottle looks really nice like a throw-back to an Art Deco or Art Nouveau aesthetic. But I have to be honest. I can’t get past the blast of alcohol that suffocates me when I spray this on.
I will admit I usually do a lot more researching on what I buy before I buy it, but because I’ve been happy with most of my Lattafa purchases so far I decided to gamble with this one, and didn’t do that so much this time. A few relatively unknown (to me) channels on YouTube suggested it was good to buy but they were wrong in my humble opinion.
I tried to wear this for about 2 weeks just to see if it was all just me not being impressed by the opening. but got a lot more complaints than I did compliments.
The opening on this is a blast of alcohol like I said, and it will take 15 to 30 minutes for the alcohol smell to mostly go away, but there’s still a dried chemical tinge that’s less syrup-sweet than what you get from Lattafa’s Ana Abiyedh Rouge. For me personally I go somehwat nose-blind/anosmic to the overall scent of both Ana Abiyedh Rouge and Baroque Rouge 540, and so I only smell the chemical-blast left over by Baroque Rouge 540. Because of the syrupy-sweetness of Ana Abiyedh Rouge I can still smell that quite a lot more, which is nicer to catch whiffs of, for longer periods.
Needless to say, I’ve retired Baroque Rouge 540 from my shelf after the 2 weeks and now just use it as a short-term air-freshener.
If anyone from Lattafa does come across this review, keep the nice little bottle that Baroque Rouge 540 comes in, give it a fancy little top, but fill it with Ana Abiyedh Rouge instead. And by all means you guys keep doing what you do by making some top-notch fragrances, clones and twists alike, and I’ll keep buying them, except for Baroque Rouge 540 that is.

I ran out of the real thing ($400!) And just didn’t have the money to replace it. I saw a Reel on FB from a woman who does expensive product hacks. She was right! This smells just like the real deal. You get a lot more and honestly less goes a lot further! If you don’t want to fork out the $400 for Baccarat Rouge, get this!

I can’t honestly tell you how close it is to the original because I’ve never smelled the original. I didn’t get the blast of alcohol smell that everyone keeps talking about. More masculine than feminine in terms of perfumes. I’ll update on longevity/smell changes but first impressions def worth the $!

I won’t lie definitely a chemical smell at the first spray but if you spray it before your ready to leave let it settle and it’s good to go I can’t tell the difference at all I sprayed it on my neck yesterday and I can still smell it on my coat so it’s really long lasting buy if you want a cheaper alternative x

This product smells really good and last a bit longer.
However, this delivery guys needed to be monitored. I was tracking my package until when its said you are next. Went down sat in my car waiting for delivery. This lady was delivering parcels to my neighbor who was after my door number. I asked her if she has a parcel for me, she said no. And I told her how come, when Amazon tracking says I am next. The look on her face was shocking. So I showed her the app and later on, she asked me for my name and address. Then she said she has a parcel for me.
She would have marked it delivered, and take the parcel with her.
They did the same thing the same week, when my parcel was missing. They said it was handed over to resident which qas me, and unfortunately I was not even home.

It’s a slightly different take on BR540 imo while keeping certain aspects of the scent’s DNA. You won’t get the cotton candy vibe but more the underlying sweet crystalized sugar & balsam fir of the fragrance. It’s potent and long lasting. I must say I’m very happy with this perfume and would 100% get again. It’s backup bottle worthy for me.
