“Sweet” –
After using plastic or electric toothbrushes my entire life, these required some adjustment time to get used to. What I really dislike is the soft and very narrow bristles. I have a box of 10 of them now, so I’m sure they’ll get used at some point, but more likely for cleaning my Jordans than cleaning my teeth.
I would not buy these again unless they had wider, stiffer bristles.

They clean effectively, are easy on the gums (if you brush too hard, recession is coming your way) and the environment! So much better than the Bite brand brushes (which are both hard bristled and since they come in two pieces, the handles are always wiggling apart)…oh, and those Bite brushes are $12 EACH.

(PHOTOS: 1, 2, 3 are AFTER 4 months of once or twice daily usage. 4, 5, 6 are NEW, before use) I have been trying to make a concerted effort to reduce the amount of single use (or short life) plastic products that I consume, and scoured Amazon for good quality biodegradable toothbrushes. THESE ARE IT, Y’ALL! CLEANLINESS: 10/10 Both myself and my husband compared how clean our teeth felt using our plastic toothbrushes and then these bamboo beauties. We both agreed that our teeth actually felt cleaner using the bamboo/nylon brushes than with the plastic. My dentist also said that my teeth looked great after 3 months of daily use. BRISTLES: 10/10 The bristles started off more on the medium strength side, but after 4 months were definitely more on the soft side. Neither I nor my husband noticed any bristles falling out after 4 months of use. For storage, we rinsed them, shook them dry and stored them upright after each use. As you can see in the photos, we had no issues with mold or mildew on the heads. OVERALL: I will be repurchasing these toothbrushes until a more eco friendly option becomes available!! I already bought them as a gift for someone and recommend them to all my friends.

You would be wrong to think that you’d never like the handles of these bamboo toothbrushes after years of using all the fancy plastic toothbrushes! (I admit that I’ve stood for too many minutes in front of the traditional toothbrush display debating between this curved one versus that tilted one; this thumb grip versus that ergonomic hand grip.) I was skeptical, too, but now that I’ve used them I actually like the way theses handles feel better than the plastic ones!
I wouldn’t say the bristles are “soft,” but it’s not like they are hard like a vegetable scrubber! Maybe the bristles are like “medium” in the plastic toothbrushes? (I don’t know for sure because I’ve always used soft.) I like how the box says to remember to brush gently. This may seem odd to say, but I think that having the handle made out of bamboo makes me more aware of how hard I’m pressing than the traditional plastic handles —maybe it’s just the simplicity of design? As for the charcoal infused bristles whitening my teeth? I don’t think I’ve noticed that, but it may be too early to tell.
I decided to buy these when I challenged myself to reduce my use of plastic during plastic free month of July. Never looking back; never again standing forever debating between the plastic options.
