I have been using Black Seed Oil after reading about its many health benefits and claims that it is “the remedy of everything but death”. I had been using another more popular brand of oil, but had read mixed reviews about its potency. I decided to give this one a try, since it came in an amber bottle (not plastic like the other brand) and had good reviews. Upon receiving this oil, i went ahead and took 1 complete tablespoon as I did with the other brand, and oooohh boy was this oil STRONG!! It burned my throat, my esophagus and everything in its path and i spent more than an hour with a nasty feeling in my body. After that, i have been taking only 1 teaspoon and it is much better and im even starting to like it again. Just beware that if you have tried less potent oils before, take it easy with this one as it is the real deal.

• In my opinion, what makes black seed oil special is its slightly “spicy” quality that increases potency–similar to using black pepper as a “carrier agent.” Otherwise, Black Seed Oil is a “superfood” similar in high nutritional profile to many others–such as sesame oil, etc. • (However, organic flax seed oil is the best for taking tablespoon volumes in order to cut cholesterol. Flax oil is very easily digested and goes well with many milk products, especially cottage cheese. Flax oil goes rancid even more easily than black seed oil. However, it keeps well in the freezer and does not solidify–so simply keep it in the freezer. Avoid whole flax seeds or ground flax seeds, or any product containing them, which are often rancid at the time of purchase, and which will go rancid even if kept in the freezer.) • An Egyptian tradition is to take a sip of black seed oil on an empty stomach (1 tsp to 1 tbsp depending on tolerance)–immediately followed by hot coffee, other hot beverage, or sipping hot soup. This is not essential. But it helps to disperse the oil and to eliminate possible throat irritation or aftertaste. • Freshness is critical! Buy a SMALL bottle (4oz or 8oz) of each brand for yourself–in glass–order only during cold weather. Store only 1 bottle for current use in the refrigerator and the rest in the freezer. • Click “new from” to see all Amazon offers–order direct from manufacturers unless others seem equally fresh and to give a special deal. • After verifying your favorite brand–order 2, 4 or 6 pints (16oz) at a time–during cold weather–store in freezer. Re-order when down to 1/2 your order (1, 2 or 3 pints). Do not cut corners by ordering larger bottles such as quarts (32oz). The smaller the bottle the fresher the oil. Freezing does not do everything. Freshness is critical. • Keep the small bottles (4oz or 8oz). After empty, wash with soap and hot water. Rinse 4 times with hot water. Then air-dry upside-down for 24 hours. The slightest moisture will cause rancidity. • So, use only 1 small bottle at a time, that is refilled with only 4oz, that is kept in the coldest part of the refrigerator. When that bottle is empty, add 4 oz of oil to another dry and clean bottle. The “freezer oil” will not pour–but will liquify after 8 hours in the refrigerator–then return it to the freezer. • Do not immediately wash an empty bottle. Instead, keep it upside-down in a cup in the refrigerator. For a week or two, this will produce several drops more oil every time it is opened. Use as a hand moisturizer after washing hands. Also maybe rub hands on face and through hair. • (But avoid applying any kind of oil to the skin in the morning it the skin might be exposed to strong sunlight. Any kind of oil will magnify the sunlight unless tinting is added. So in the morning or early afternoon, it is better to moisturize the skin with something natural that has an SPF value. Even SPF 2 is much better than an untinted oil.) • Currently (Feb 2017) there are 2 Amazon listings “shipped from Sweet Sunnah.” One listing charges more for shipping–but you might get a break if you order 2 or 3 sets. It is difficult to tell which is better. I bought the two pack shortly after I received a single pack purchase at. The great price of $32.99. The day I received it I saw that the price on Amazon was jacked up to $50 but the two pack was still $62.99 so I grabbed it before it jumps to $100 for two. The 2 pack is still holding at $62.99 AND THE Single bottle has dropped to $43.99 but thats still to high. I think it the best black seed oil on the market. I’ve tried several brands but when I bought this I haven’t changed. 6 years ago there were only a handful of companies selling black seed oil on Amazon. Now there’s to many to count and the good brands that have been around the longest you have to scroll through a couple of pages to find them. Frankly i don’t trust many of these overnight start up jumping on the bandwagon. Go with a company that been around a while and I think sweet sunny was the first to have it in a glass bottle. Its the best oil on the market but the single bottle price is to high. I hope they keep the two pack at$62.99
